Volunteer
Volunteers are critical to the success of Center City Opera Theater.
You can volunteer to host one of our singers during their stay in the Philadelphia area. Short-term and long-term stays are needed for our performers. We also have volunteer opportunities in event managing, mailings, fundraising and marketing. Email info@operatheater.org to join our team today.

Internships

Internships at Center City Opera Theater are designed to provide hands-on training and experiences that will prepare them for the professional world, especially for positions in arts administration. Many of our interns have gone on to full-time careers in opera, as well as other non-profit and for-profit industries. We build skills and provide opportunities that classes and lectures simply can’t provide. College credit can be arranged depending on your individual institution. Typical internships positions include focuses in either marketing or development. Internships are part-time and uncompensated.At Center City Opera Theater, we value creative input no matter your background, experience, or major. You are in the position to make regular, valuable contributions to a professional opera company!
Qualifications
- -Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

- -Positive, professional attitude.
- -Highly motivated, outgoing, energetic
- -A creative self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions
- -Must be dependable, efficient and timely
- -Efficient research skills
- -Database skills (MS Access)
- -Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- -Available at least 2 days a week; hours flexible.
- ------Minimum of 15-20 hours a week (at least 10 hours in office)
- ------Minimum commitment: one semester (six months)
- ------Willing and able to work evenings and weekend hours for special events and performances
- -Applicants with a knowledge and passion for the arts/opera preferred
- -Current college junior or senior pursuing a degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism or industry-related major with emphasis in arts management. Recent grads encouraged to apply.

Marketing Internship
Marketing Interns for Center City Opera Theater will have responsibilities vital to the operation of public relations, social media, web content, event planning, video production, advertising, customer relations, sales, and other promotional initiatives for the company. Interns will work closely with the Marketing Director to develop and execute an effective marketing strategy for the opera season.
Students may take internships for college credit or on a rolling volunteer basis. At this time internships are not paid, but a travel stipend may be offered depending on the student’s needs.
Development Internship
Responsibilities include:
- -Assist in the research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of grants
- -Assist in the research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors to achieve CCOT’s Annual Campaign goals
- -Assist the General Director & Managing Director in the stewardship and solicitation of major donors and prospects
- -Assist in analyzing internal ticket data for potential major donors and sponsorships
- -Assist in Annual Fund drives and creation of necessary materials
- -Draft individual solicitation proposals and other written materials, including acknowledgement letters, as needed
- -Assist in the fulfillment of donor benefits
- -Assist in fundraising and cultivation events
- -Be part of CCOT’s artistic administrative team by assisting in basic office assignments.
Auditions
Auditions for soloists are held periodically during the Center City Opera Theater’s regular season (i.e. from September to June). Only those singers whose materials show evidence of significant professional experience performing solo roles in fully staged operas will be considered. The Center City Opera Theater reserves the right, without explanation, to decline to hear applicants. Singers who wish to audition should mail a photo and resume to:
