Raymond Ayers, Lord Henry
(6/6 & 6/10),
is already creating a name for himself in the leading baritone repertoire
in his very young career. The Minneapolis Star Tribune said of his success
in John Adams' Nixon in China, “Raymond Ayers struck just
the right tone as Chou En-lai: detached and philosophical.” Mr.
Ayers recently completed his training in the Minnesota Opera Resident
Artist Program. While in the program his roles included: Madama Butterfly
(Sharpless), the title role in Der Kaiser von Atlantis, Nixon
in China (Chou En-lai), Carmen (El Dancare), Maria Padilla
(Ramiro, Don Pedro cover), Tosca (Angelotti/Jailer), Il
Signor Bruschino (Gaudenzio) and Don Giovanni (Masetto,
Don Giovanni cover). Mr. Ayers is a frequent guest with the Minnesota
Orchestra. Recently, he shared the stage with renowned artists Deborah
Voigt, Carl Tanner and Greer Grimsley singing Tosca (Angelotti/Jailer).
He was also seen on the stage of Sommerfest in the Orchestra’s production
of Carmen (Zuniga, Escamillo cover), and returned to reprise
his role of the Father in their production of Hansel and Gretel
this past December. Mr. Ayers will return yet again to perform Peer
Gynt and La Bohème (Shaunard, Marcello cover) in
Sommerfest 2007. Mr. Ayers completed his master’s degree from the
Manhattan School of Music. While there he performed in the American premiere
of Martinu’s Mirandolina, creating the role of the 2 Cavaliere
di Ripafrata. In 2002, Mr. Ayers appeared in the New York premiere of
Pasatieri’s The Seagull (Constantine), also recording it
for Albany Records. Mr. Ayers performed two seasons with Chautauqua Opera
performing in Fiddler on the Roof (Motel the Tailor), Susannah
(Elder Ott) and Faust (covering Valentin and Wagner).
Jeffrey Chapman, Gamekeeper
Matthew Curran, Basil
Hallward (6/6 & 6/10), was
most recently heard as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro with Skagit
Opera and with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra as Edwin Cheney in Shining
Brow by Daron Hagen. He has appeared with New Jersey Opera Theater
as Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Dr. Bartolo in Le
Nozze di Figaro, and Pistola in Falstaff. With the Seattle
Opera Young Artist program he sang Colline in La Bohème,
Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola and on the main stage Zaretsky
and The Captain in Eugene Onegin. As a member of the Zurich Opera
Studio, he sang Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte für Kinder,
Macrobio in Rossini’s La Pietra del Paragone, Max Hammer
(der Feind) in the operetta Der Musikfeind and numerous small
roles on the main stage. As an apprentice artist with Central City Opera,
he sang the Blind Ballad Singer in Britten’s Gloriana.
With The Opera Company of Brooklyn, he was heard as Sparafucile and Monterone
in Rigoletto. He also appeared at the Aspen Summer Music Festival
as Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and in small roles
with Chautauqua Opera and New Orleans Opera. He has sung for two seasons
with the Composer and the Voice Workshop for American Opera Projects.
He has Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University New Orleans and
a Master’s Degree from Indiana University. Upcoming engagements
include Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Frère Laurent
in Roméo et Juliette with New Jersey Opera Theater.
Jorge Garza, Dorian,
is a graduate of
the
Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music. He has participated
in the country’s most prestigious young artists programs including
Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Wolftrap Opera where he sang the role
of Don Ottavio under the baton of John Keenan and Sesto in Giulio
Cesare conducted by Patrick Summers, San Francisco Opera’s
Merola Program where he sang the role of Almaviva in Il Barbiere di
Siviglia directed by John Copley, and finally Los Angeles Opera’s
Young Artists program where he sang the role of Eurimaco in Il Ritorno
d’Ulysses with Federica von Stade, Raul in the world premiere
of Lee Holdridge’s Journey to Cordoba, and Burrowing Mole
in the world premiere of Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr. Fox.
While with LA Opera, Mr. Garza was asked to cover performances of Ferrando
in Così fan tutte sung by Michael Schade and Nemorino
in L’Elisir d’Amore sung by Ramon Vargas. Having
recently moved to New York City, Mr. Garza’s recent engagements
include Florville, in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino with
Gotham Chamber Opera, Tenor 1/Billy in Kurt Weill’s Seven Deadly
Sins, Mahagony Songspiel with Liederkranz Opera and The
Last True Words of Dutch Schultz with the Center for Contemporary
Opera recently performed at the Wall to Wall Opera Concert in New York’s
Symphony Space. Mr. Garza has been invited by Maestro Will Crutchfield
to be a Caramoor BelCanto Soloist in this summer’s Caramoor Festival.
He will sing concerts as well as cover Barry Banks in the role of Carlo
in Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix.

Jennifer Harris,
Whore, is a native of Michigan
and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Voice
Performance from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Shirley
Verrett and Martin Katz. While attending U-M, she was seen as Magda in
Menotti’s The Consul, as Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze
di Figaro, as Mimì in La Bohème, and in the title
role of Maria Golovin. She also sang the Countess with the Arbor Opera
Theater, and presented several recitals in Mr. Katz’s studio, singing
diverse song literature from Schoenberg, Strauss, Heggie, and many others.
Most recently, Ms. Harris covered the title role in Tosca with
the Center City Opera Theater in Philadelphia and was awarded the top
prize from the prestigious Arleen Auger Memorial Fund in New York. Ms.
Harris appeared with the Miami Lyric Opera where she sang in two gala
concerts, performing arias and duets from Otello, Un ballo in maschera,
La Forza del Destino, and Suor Angelica. She sang Donna
Elvira in Don Giovanni with the Seagle Music Colony where her
performance was deemed “remarkable” by music critics. She
has performed numerous recital programs in the United States and several
times inconcert with Florida’s Venice Symphony Orchestra.
Megan Marie Hart, Sybil
Vane (6/9 & 6/12), a native
of Oregon, earned both her Bachelors and her Masters degrees at Oberlin
Conservatory, where she studied with Richard Miller. She currently lives
in Manhattan and studies with Mignon Dunn. Her operatic credits include
Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Venere in Venere, Amore, e Ragione,
Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Amina in La Sonnambula,
Elle in La voix humaine, Blanche in Les dialogues des Carmélites,
La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro, Venus in Orpheus in the
Underworld, Lady Billows in Albert Herring, Gianetta in
The Gondoliers, The Bat in L’enfant et les Sortilèges,
and Die Hexe, Die Mutter and Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel.
She has participated in several young artist programs, including Opera
North and Opera Theatre St. Louis, where she covered the role of Juliette
in Roméo et Juliette. Ms. Hart was recently a Regional
Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, won Second
Place in the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera Competition, was
a Finalist in the Connecticut Opera Guild Competition and the Career Bridges
Grants, a Semi-Finalist in the Florida Grand Opera Competition and was
nominated for a Sara Tucker Award. In the 2007/2008 season, Ms. Hart will
be singing several roles in the Seattle Opera’s Young Artist Program,
including the title role in Donezetti’s Rita, Female Trio
in Trouble in Tahiti, Woglinde in a children’s adaption
of Das Rheingold, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi.
Olindo Marseglia, Lord
Geoffrey/Dorian cover, has performed publicly
since the age of five. He recently performed the role of Theodore Laurence
(Laurie) in Center City Opera Theater’s
regional premiere of Adamo’s Little Women. He has numerous
roles to his credit with several different performance companies, including
his debuts with Virginia Opera, CCOT, Virginia Chorale, and Virginia Symphony
Chorus, last year. From 1985–2004, Mr. Marseglia distinguished himself
throughout South Carolina as a performer, with professional companies
such as the Long Bay Symphony Orchestra and the South Carolina Symphonic
Chorale. He has been privileged to work and coach with some of the more
prominent artists and directors in the opera world, including Lorna Haywood,
Shigemi Matsumoto, Daniel Helfgot, Janet Bookspan, John Wustmann, Richard
Troxell, and Benton Hess. Mr. Marseglia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Interdisciplinary Studies (Music and Theater) from Coastal Carolina
University (Conway, SC) and a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance
from Converse College
(Spartanburg, SC).

Jody Sheinbaum,
Sybil Vane (6/6 & 6/10), has appeared
with New York City Opera, Santa Fe Opera, San Francisco Opera’s
Western Opera Theater, Opera Festival of New Jersey, the Bard Music Festival,
the National Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Fe Symphony, the Louisiana
Philharmonic, and the New York Pops, among others. She has given recitals
in the United States, France and Japan, and has a unique interest and
specialty in performing Japanese art song. Recent performances include
Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Duke Symphony Orchestra
in North Carolina, Musetta in La Bohème with Center City
Opera Theater at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Young Alyce in Tom
Cipullo’s Glory Denied with Center for Contemporary Opera
in New York, Beth in Mark Adamo’s Little Women with Center
City Opera Theater, and a reprise and recording of Stefan Weisman’s
Darkling with American Opera Projects. Ms. Sheinbaum is a graduate
of the University of Pennsylvania and received her Master’s degree
from Mannes College
of Music.
Joseph Specter, James
Vane, has engagements
this season including Dancairo in Carmen with Opera Memphis,
baritone soloist in the Fauré Requiem with the Fairfield
Chorale. He recently received his Artist Diploma at Philadelphia's Academy
of Vocal Arts, where roles included Papageno in Die Zauberflöte,
Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor,
Belcore in L'elisir d'Amore and Schaunard in La Bohème,
among others. In previous seasons, Joseph has performed with companies
such as Dicapo Opera, National Lyric Opera of New York, Utah Festival
Opera Company and Center City Opera Theater. An award winner in Annapolis
Opera's 2006 opera competition, Mr. Specter is a former apprentice artist
with Sarasota Opera, a former Artist-in-Residence with Opera Memphis and
is an honors graduate of New England Conservatory's double-degree program
with Tufts University.
Jason Switzer, Lord Henry
(6/9 & 6/12), recently made his
professional debut with Central City Opera singing Hel Helson in Paul
Bunyan and the Bonze in Madama Butterfly. He then went to
both Utah Opera and Opera Tampa to perform the role of Capulet in Roméo
et Juliette. These engagements followed his completion of his studies
at the Academy of Vocal Arts, where he performed many roles including
Il Conte in Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così
fan tutte, Orest in Elektra, and Schaunard in La Bohème.
Mr. Switzer was also an Apprentice Artist at Central City Opera in 2004
where he performed the Four Villains in Les Contes d’Hoffmann.
Jason was a two time national semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera
National Council Auditions. He has also won other prestigious competitions
including the Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Competition and the Sullivan
Foundation Competition.
Richard Ziebarth, Basil
Hallward (6/9 & 6/12), was heard
as guest soloist in Princeton Pro Musica’s season opening gala "The
Grandeur of Opera." A graduate of the Chicago College of Performing
Arts of Roosevelt University (honored with a full scholarship), Mr. Ziebarth
began his professional career while still in school. For three years he
sang with the Opera Theatre of Lucca in Italy. With CCPA’s Opera
Theatre he performed a variety of concert repertoire and stage roles.
Mr. Ziebarth has also performed with Palm Beach Opera, Chautauqua Opera,
Sarasota Opera, and Light Opera Works. He participated in both the Sarasota
and Chautauqua apprentice programs and was a member of the Alan Stone
Début Artists at Chicago Opera Theatre, and as such was featured
on WFMT radio’s Live from Studio One. Mr. Ziebarth has appeared
with the Denver, Elgin, and Crystal Lake Symphony Orchestras, and was
a soloist in the Millennium Gala concert series in St. Croix, U.S. 3 Virgin
Islands. He has a wide variety of oratorio experience including Haydn’s
Creation and Lord Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Requiem,
Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and
Paulus, and Bach’s Mass in b minor. He is always
in demand as soloist for the Beethoven Ninth Symphony. Professionally
trained as a competitive figure skater, Richard Ziebarth was a double
gold medalist for the United States Figure Skating Association. His discipline
and athleticism are manifest in a commanding stage presence and elegant
demeanor.
